His work focuses on how today’s political and social environment has developed through historical processes, and how this creates metaphors and pictures, from which we read history and society. The Friends of Moderna Museet Sculpture Prize 2019 is awarded to alumni Runo Lagomarsino, who will be featured with an exhibition opening in conjunction with the award ceremony on 12 November. The prize sum of SEK 300,000 makes this one of Sweden’s largest artist awards. Runo Lagomarsino föddes 1977 i Lund. Han har en BFA-examen (2001) från Akademin Valand, Göteborgs universitet, och en MFA-examen (2003) från Konsthögskolan i Malmö. Han deltog därefter i Whitney Independent Study Program, New York (2007–2008).

Utgångspunkten för hans konstverk är ofta den latinamerikanska samtidens koloniala arv: de spår av våld och dominans man kan finna i en kartas gränsdragningar, i en tapets ikonografi eller i dokumentationen av en fotbollsmatch. In his installations, sculptures, pictures and films, Runo Lagomarsino strives to present alternative perspectives on historical, political and cultural power relationships.

Biografi. Runo Lagomarsino växte upp i Lund i en familj som emigrerat från Argentina, och utbildade sig på Konsthögskolan Valand i Göteborg 1999-2001, 

Lagomarsino (912) är sedan några år ett av Sveriges hetaste namn i den internationella ligan.
